Dazhou and Guang'an cities in the province raised the highest flood prevention alarm.

In its latest update on Sunday, the China Meteorological Bureau said heavy rains and downpours are expected in Beijing, Tianjin and parts of Hebei, Shanxi and Shandong provinces.

The administration said rainfalls of up to 280mm are expected in southwest Beijing and downtown Hebei, warning that the aforementioned regions will also experience thunderstorms and strong winds.


It has been estimated that heavy rainfall could cause flooding in 14 small and medium-sized rivers, including the Qujiang tributaries in Sichuan and Hanjiang in Shaanxi.
