This video explains how in some circumstances, market noise can be beneficial to mean-reversion systems. Many traders consider market noise to be a nuisance. Why can't prices just move sensibly in a straight line? And yes, noise can affect trend following strategies badly, if it becomes dominant over the more meaningful momentum-based moves.

But when it comes to trading systems that rely more on Mean-Reversion characteristics in price-action, as opposed to momentum-based moves, the tables turn somewhat. Here, noise can work in our favor.
