New hotel, new area, good vibes, but not the place we thought it was... We quickly realise our new neighbourhood isn't Menteng (the affluent area) but somewhere else in Central Jakarta. Welcome to Senen!
It's as always equally friendly in Indonesia. We speak to the locals about food options and get a sense of the place, we get some of those typical bule 'first impressions of the area', we're staying in - it's nice but we realise there are some parts you need to keep your wits about you.
In fact some locals we've spoken to recently said the same about the area in regards to safety.
Despite the area being tough in some parts, the Jakartans are friendly as ever and welcoming - there are a couple of strange looks - but that's standard when you see a bule with a little camera.
Our previous stays were in Thamrin City and near Kuningan
It's only a quick vlog today and the camera get's a little shaky as this wasn't planned and I didn't bring my tripod.
Big shout out to anyone that comments, it's the reason why we make these videos. Appreciate all the messages, comments and the lot. We really like Jakarta - so many different elements, so much to see - we always say you've got to move areas every few weeks to really understand different parts of a city.
