We don’t think of venomous snakes as having many health benefits for humans. But researchers in Brazil think that the venom of a pit viper may be able to help fight the coronavirus. They’ve found that a molecule in the venom of a South American pit viper -- the jararacussu -- inhibited production of the coronavirus in monkey cells. It can do so without harming other cells. Their findings were published in the journal “Molecules.”
