Alright if you’re someone who has pain in your knees while you squat, you need to make sure that your actively hinging your hips back as you initiate the descent. That means, don’t just focus on bending your knees to lower yourself down which usually looks something like this, where your body stays relatively upright and your knees travel excessively forward causing the weight to shift towards your toes lifting your heels off the ground. Instead, make sure to hinge your hips back and bend your knees at the same time so that the weight is distributed evenly across your foot, which looks something like this, where the angle of your back increases at the same rate of speed as your knees.
