Rosberg Reveals How Max Verstappen Can Beat Lewis Hamilton

Rosberg began by suggesting that in Lewis, Max has one of the all-time greats as his rival

“To win a Formula One World Championship, first of all you need to look at your rival. In this case it was Lewis, he was the only real rival, and he’s now proven to be the best of all time, so the level is unbelievably high”

He added that despite this Lewis is also human and has weaknesses

“But, as is the case with any human, there’s also some weaknesses. First of all, it’s important to be at your absolute 110% for the whole season, because anything less you’re just not going to have a chance against him”

Rosberg laid out the another requirement for success again Lewis

“And it’s also important to be consistent over the whole season, to really not have any big, bad races, and deliver at every moment”

He signed off by revealing the key shortcoming of Lewis that Max needs to capitalize on

“And then Lewis also has these periods where he loses a bit of motivation – he has these dips in form – and there it’s important to maximise those moments, to keep him down for a bit longer. If all these ingredients come together you stand a chance, and that’s what happened in 2016”

McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo has stated that “I’m still here because I believe I can win a title, and I want to win a title” [Beyond The Grid]

“But I’m at peace with whatever happens, as long as I go out and leave it all on the track, I’ll get fulfilment”, he continued

“Say I’m at McLaren for five years, and we don’t get a title, I don’t want to look back on the five years as a failure. Because then it’s like, ‘OK, that’s five years of my life that I’m just flushing down the toilet’. Five years of your life is a lot of time”, he reasoned

AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly is of the opinion that he is “performing at a better level, more experienced and based on this year [he] could have deserved a better chance” [F1]

“But that is the decision, it doesn’t stop my motivation, I’ve been in Sergio’s [Perez] position, it’s part of obviously, a career perspective”, he added

Red Bull “made their decision, I’m happy for them that they are having a very successful season. [I will] keep pushing and try to take my chance in the future because that’s what I want, to fight for a World Championship”, he concluded

Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen doesn’t think he will “have to replace [the adrenaline rush of racing in F1 after his retirement]” [F1]

“It’s a very normal thing that we do, at least for me. I’ve done it for many, many years so it’s not like it’s any different than driving a car in many ways”, he elaborated

“Obviously if you have some fights or if you go off in the wrong place you feel the speed, but I guess there are many other things that I do that are much more scary in many ways”, he summed up

Alpine’s Fernando Alonso feels that “the US is probably the biggest target for F1 right now with Liberty in charge of the sport” [Motorsport]

“There are rumours [that a third race in the US] could happen in different places, Las Vegas or Indianapolis or whatever”, he added

“So, let’s see one step at a time. But let’s make a good grand prix in Miami next year first”, he wrapped up

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen feels that they “have always been competitive in the US and have got close to some good results” [F1]

“So, it’s about converting that into a win now. We go to every track now knowing that we can fight at least for a podium now, but also a win and that is different to past years”

“We are focused on doing the best we can and always trying to win the race, and that will be no different in Austin. It will be another close battle this weekend and I am looking forward to that”

Will Pierre Gasly get another chance to drive for a top team in the future?
