The grand epic of Mahabharata is one of the foundational heritages of India. 


Mahabharata, through Its insights into the intricacy of human nature and stories of complex relationships, has left an indelible mark on India's evolution.

For BORI, Mahabharata is the soul of our legacy. Our "Critical Edition of Mahabharata" takes into account various versions of the epic compiled over centuries, and it runs into 15,000 pages of a total of 19 volumes.  The Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute is thus delighted to announce an Americas-centric batch of our popular online course - 18 Parvans of Mahabharata - Introduction to the Incredible Epic.  The course will provide insights into the contents of the epic. It will be based on the "Critical Edition", which is globally renowned when it comes to the textual study of Mahabharata. The speakers in the course will feature some of the titans of the field, & some emerging faces. Following are the details of the course: 

Course dates - Nov. 29 - Dec. 17 - Monday to Friday, 9 PM EST (6 PM PST) to 10.30 PM EST (7.30 PM PST). 
The course consists of 15 lectures. 
Lectures take place via Zoom webinar, The duration of the lectures is approx 60 minutes.  The sessions are pre-recorded and are followed by the live Q/A. 
The lectures are available for repeated viewing via secured-access links of Vimeo or Youtube for 1 week.
The learning material consists of the pdf copies of two books, lecture synopsis, stray notes on related topics 3 supplementary videos - A lecture by Dr. Bibek Debroy, Sessions on the Critical Edition and the Geography of Mahabharata 

The fee of the course is USD 125 all-inclusive.
