Hundreds of manhours over 10 years and $98k + of documented receipts helped create this special 1974 Porsche 911 RSR IROC Tribute. As a generation of 911's referred to as the widowmakers, this was our most challenging review yet.
Challenging in terms of the learning the cars driving dynamics, and just overall research needed to better understand the IROC history and build better. We did our best in the July heat and humidity to pain the right picture on this rare Yellow Green 1974 Porsche 911 RSR IROC Tribute.
In this 1974 Porsche 911 RSR IROC tribute review video, we spotlight the engine, interior, and take a POV drive. I will say this car is a thrill to drive, and its very rewarding when you get it right. Few cars will make 250 horsepower feel more engaging and fun than this 1974 Porsche 911 RSR IROC Tribute! The key is the 2,000 pounds of weight - its frankly a light car with a classic 911 rear weight biast.
We also really enjoyed the old school nature of the 1974 Porsche 911 RSR engine which is carborated and needs a little finess to fire. We kept that unedited in this video to help understand what a cold start looks like. Once the 911 3.0 twin-plug RSR engine is warm, she will fire right up.
We did our best to spotlight in hopefully easy to digest terms what the IROC (International Race of Champions) race series was. It went from 1974 to 2007 I believe, but Porsche 911's were only used in the first race. Thereafter, they went to Camaros which were easier to race! Thus, only 15 were made for the race, and apart from the colors, they were all exactly the same 911 RSR models. Those original models are bringing seven figures now, with one coming up at Christie's for $1.5 million.
We sincerely thank you for watching our 1974 Porsche 911 RSR IROC Tribute review. If you have any thoughts on the car leave a comment and we appreciate a sub for weekly reviews just like this. We're doing our best with the Nashville summer heat which frankly has been brutal this year.
