Janta Dal United की बैठक में मुख्यमंत्री Nitish Kumar ने ये फैसला लिया है. शाम को 4 बजे मुख्यमंत्री राज्यपाल से मुलाकात कर अपना इस्तीफा सौंपेंगे. Nitish Kumar BJP का साथ छोड़ेंगे, ऐसी अटकलें लगातार चल रही थीं, जिस पर अब मुहर लग गई है.हालांकि जेडीयू की तरफ से औपचारिक ऐलान नहीं किया गया है. लेकिन दोनों पार्टियों का गठबंधन टूट गया है. सीएम नीतीश कुमार महागठबंधन के साथ सरकार बनाएंगे, जिसमें RJD, लेफ्ट और Congress शामिल है. शाम को जब वह राज्यपाल से मुलाकात करेंगे तब महागठबंधन के नेता भी उनके साथ मौजूद रहेंगे और गवर्नर को समर्थन पत्र सौंपेंगे.

Meanwhile, the BJP will hold a meeting at 5 pm. Also amid rumours of a rift with the BJP, it also seems that RJD will be back I alliance with te JD(U). Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Sonali Acharya had tweeted in Hindi which roughly translates to: "Prepare for the upcoming coronation, lantern bearers". The lantern is the symbol of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which was founded by Lalu.
