Tropical Depression Fred midday forecast: Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021

Forecasters are keeping an eye on Tropical Depression Fred to see if it will regenerate after Hispaniola’s rugged terrain essentially shredding the system. For now, it appears it will still be a rain even for west Florida this weekend.

Fred is expected to move west-northwest between Cuba and the Bahamas through Friday. That also means it will be moving into warmer waters. moving into the Florida Straits and warmer water.

By Saturday afternoon, Tropical Storm Fred will likely be near South Florida. Then on Sunday morning into the afternoon, the forecast track shows Fred north of the Tampa Bay Area.
