The Taliban have publicly displayed the dead bodies of four alleged kidnappers in the city of Herat.
The men were killed in a gun fight after allegedly seizing a businessman and his son.
One body was reportedly hung from a crane in the city centre – as the other bodies were displayed in popular meeting places throughout the city.
On Saturday, a Taliban official warned extreme punishments such as executions and amputations would resume.
The Taliban have promised a milder form of rule than in their previous tenure.
